Proposed Policy for our RHSE curriculum from September 2020

From September 2020, it is a legal requirement that all primary and secondary schools provide a Relationship and Sex education, which matches the requirements of the updated guidance from the Department for Education.

We have written a proposed policy which outlines how we, at The Gateway, intend to meet these new requirements through our Science, PSHE, PE, RE and online safety teaching. Our policy also sets out the year group specific content that your child will be taught.

When creating our Relationship, Health and Sex Education policy we have taken into account:

  • The age of the children
  • The physical and emotional maturity
  • The religious and cultural backgrounds
  • The special educational needs and/or disabilities

We would like to share our proposed policy with you and welcome your feedback before this becomes part of our curriculum from September 2020.

Opportunity to give feedback:

We are going to place our proposed policy onto our school website throughout the month of April and welcome any written feedback during this time. Please email your feedback to office@gateway-pri.kent.sch.uk which will be taken into account when we finalise our policy.
