We really enjoyed our first week in Swans. It was a bit scary at first, but we have made lots of friends and been very busy!
Teddy Bear's Picnic
We had lots of fun at our teddy bear's picnic! We made invitations, teddy bear ears and then went on a teddy bear hunt with our families before we had our picnic. Thanks for coming to join us!
The Doctor will see you now!
Doctor Alaa came to talk to us about how Doctors help us and show us the equipment they use. She let us listen to each other's heartbeats with her stethoscope, and showed us what else she had in her Doctor's bag. Thank you for visiting us!
Police visit
PC Rafter came to visit us and explain what it is that the Police do, and how they keep us safe. He showed us the Police van and talked about the equipment that he uses. We even got to go in the van and sit in the jail cell. It was lots of fun! Thank you PC Rafter!
Learning in the hall!
While our roof was being worked on, we had to do our work in the hall for 2 days. It was very different being in the hall, but lots of fun!
Term 2 - Transport and Journeys
We're Going on a Bear Hunt!
We had lots of fun retelling the story of 'We're Going on a Bear Hunt' together!
Painting journeys!
After reading 'The Naughty Bus' and 'The Train Ride', we enjoyed using the vehicles to paint different journeys. This was good for our gross motor development, especially we we had to stretch across the table to help our vehicles go further.
Fabulous fireworks!
We used marbles to help our paint move around the paper for our fireworks paintings. It was lots of fun to shake, rattle and roll the trays!
Remembrance Day poppy painting
We used different sponges, paintbrushes and rollers to create our poppy pictures. We had photos of poppies to look at, but all our paintings were different.
Yarr! We be Pirates!
We had a lot of fun with our pirate topic! We made our own boats, using junk modelling and using the big bricks outside, and we decorated a pirate ship too. Of course, no pirate is complete without their eye patch and Captain's hat!
Term 3 - Once Upon a Time
Jack and the Beanstalk paintings
We used different tools for our paintings, including paintbrushes, sponges and stamps. When our paintings had dried, we drew on the characters with pencil.
Making our own puppet theatre!
We were very excited to find a big box in the classroom and talked about what we could do with it. It was decided that we could make a puppet theatre. We worked together using a variety of tools and negotiation to make a puppet theatre. We then got to perform for each other! Even the Play Leaders had a go!
Baking gingerbread
Making our own gingerbread was really fun! Well done to Miss Cleary for rescuing them when Mrs Rafter was baking...
BeeBots
Learning how to use the BeeBots was interesting. We had to make sure we gave them the correct instructions so that they went where we wanted them to. We also practiced on the iPad app.
TASC Project - Making a trap for the Gingerbread Man!
The Gingerbread Man escaped from the story book and was causing mayhem in school! He was running around the classroom and sitting in Mr Cassem's office at night! We worked together to build some traps. Luckily, the CCTV footage showed that he was caught.
Lunar New Year
As part of our learning about Lunar New Year, we watched and then practiced our own dragon dance. This gave us a good appetite for food tasting. It was good to try different flavours that some of us hadn't had before. Everyone tried something new and was able to talk about what they liked and didn't like and why.
Term 4 - Food and Celebrations!
