World Book Week

World Book Week 2021

For our last week of home learning, we celebrated World Book Day over the whole week as a whole school. We started the week with zoom assemblies where we read and discussed our books and then completed a range of English, art/DT and computing activities.

Everyone was extremely creative and should be very proud of what they made - all of the teachers found choosing their story tellers of the week very difficult. Please see some of our amazing work on the webpage below.

On the Thursday afternoon, during our zoom, we held 'The Big Gateway Book Quiz'. Thank you to all those who attended and well done to our winners!

Swans

Swans focussed all of their work around 'Angelica Spocket's Pockets'. They really enjoyed the story and worked hard to pick out the rhyming words. Swans then created their own pockets to add to a large class version of her coat! Over the week, there was some excellent writing, artwork and computing.

Key Stage One and Two

Key Stage One and Two focussed their work around 'The Green Ship', a story which is also written by Quentin Blake. The story is about two small children, who have been staying at their Aunt's house for 2 weeks and are feeling bored so use their imaginations go on some brilliant adventures. Across the school there was some amazing work across the curriculum. Please see examples of our work below:

Herons and Kingfishers

In Key Stage One, we had some excellent writing, drama, artwork and models across the week.

We also had some amazing animations over the week including one film trailer for the follow up to 'The Green Ship' - The Blue Space Ship!
